These terms cover Constructure Screenwriter, a Mac application, and its iPhone companion app, sold by Constructure Screenwriter LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company. By buying or using the software you agree to them.
The short version. You buy the version of Constructure that exists today, and you keep it forever. We may release updates, but we are not promising any. Your scripts are yours and stay on your own computer. There are no refunds — the free trial is how you decide. And because this is a small independent product, our liability is limited to what you paid us.
If you subscribed through the Mac App Store. Apple is the seller for those purchases, and several things below describe the direct version instead. On the App Store, Constructure is a monthly subscription — there is no one-time purchase. It is $12.99 a month in the United States and the local equivalent elsewhere; the App Store shows the exact price before you confirm. Apple takes the payment, Apple's refund policy applies rather than ours, and you cancel in System Settings ▸ Apple Account ▸ Media & Purchases ▸ Subscriptions. There is no licence file to enter — the App Store tells the app what you are entitled to, and your access lasts as long as the subscription does. Everything else here applies either way: how you may use the software, that your writing is yours, the sync terms, the warranty and the limit on our liability.
Constructure 1.x — yours forever. A one-time purchase gives you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the current major version of Constructure Screenwriter. It does not expire. It keeps working offline, with no account and no check-in to any server.
A monthly subscription gives you the same licence for as long as the subscription is active.
You are buying the software as it exists on the day you buy it. Any description of future plans is exactly that — a plan, not a commitment.
We may release updates, fixes and improvements, and we intend to. We are not obligated to release any. Specifically, and to be as clear as we can:
This is a deliberately conservative position taken by a very small independent publisher, and we would rather promise little and do more than promise much and fail.
To be plain about our motives: keeping Constructure working and current is squarely in our own interest. A screenwriting app that stops running is a dead product, and we are trying to build a business here, not collect one-time payments and disappear. Our intention is to keep it current and to look after the people who bought in early. What we are declining to do is put that intention under contract, because a one-person company cannot responsibly guarantee work it may not be able to fund.
Everything you write in Constructure is yours. We claim no ownership, no licence, and no right to use it. Your scripts are saved as ordinary files on your own computer. We do not require an account and cannot read your work. See the Privacy Policy for the one exception — iPhone sync, which you choose to switch on.
Constructure is free to try with no time limit. The trial lets you write a new script of up to 30 pages using every feature. Opening a screenplay you already have, and writing past 30 pages, require a licence. Everything you write during the trial is saved normally and is never locked away, watermarked or held back.

Syncing a script between your Mac and iPhone is optional and off by default. It works by relaying your script through a server we operate.
Constructure is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
Keep your own backups. Your scripts are ordinary files on your own machine — back them up as you would any other important work.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Constructure Screenwriter LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or writing, arising from your use of or inability to use the software.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You may stop using Constructure at any time. We may terminate a licence obtained fraudulently, or used in serious breach of these terms — for example by publishing a licence file for others to use. Otherwise your perpetual licence is yours to keep.
We may update these terms for future purchases. Changes are not retroactive: the terms you agreed to when you bought your licence continue to govern that purchase. The current version is always on this page, with its date.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes any consumer right you have under the law of your own country that cannot be waived by agreement.
